The course is aimed at providing doctors with specialized knowledge
and skills required to provide Mental Health care in the West African
sub-region, particularly in secondary level health care facilities.
- Candidates must be fully registered medical practitioners in any of the member countries of the West Africa Health Community
Curriculum:
Details of the curriculum and course content are available from the College.
There are three broad postings:
- Block I (3 months) Lecture, Clinical demonstrations and Experience in Basic Science and Clinical Psychiatry at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) Ile-Ife, Osun State
- Block II (8 months) - Clinical Postings at the Teaching Hospitals and other accredited Psychiatric units
- Block III (1 month) Revision period and examination at OAUTHC, Ile-ife Osun State
Course Fee:
One thousand two hundred dollars (USD 1,200) or equivalent in local
currency payable in Bank draft to the West African College of
Physicians.
Candidates will be responsible for their own accomodation. The host
institution may be able to assist in providing low-cost accomodation.
